Ingredients:

  • Pork Shoulder
  • Mixed Herbs
  • Paprika
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • 1 Onion
  • 6 Garlic Clove
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Apple Juice
  • Chicken Stock
  • Gurt BBQ Sauce
  • Flour / Cornflour

Extras:

  • Homemade Slaw or Coleslaw
  • Pickled Pink Onions
  • Burger or Brioche Buns

Method:

1 - Grab yourself a pork shoulder. You can pick these up pretty cheap from Aldi! I got this one which was pretty big for £6 & I think it was about 2kg! Take the skin off & you can save that and put it in air-fryer 30 minutes before you serve your pork and it’ll crisp up beautifully!

2 - Cover your pork with any spices you want! I used mixed herbs, paprika, garlic powder & onion powder. Give your meat a good rub and wrap in cling film and put into the oven for as long as you can.

3 - Chop onion, garlic and add to the slow cooker. Get the pork out the fridge and place it in the slow cooker. Add some apple cider vinegar, chicken stock and apple juice, then add your bbq sauce! I used @gurtsauces Gurt bbq! This stuff is banging! Stick it on low and leave it for 4 hours.

4 - After 4 hours check on it, give it a stir if you need & also crank it up to medium for another 4 and a half hours.

5 - Take your meat out and give it a pull. It should fall apart. Carefully spoon out any excess oil that you do not want. Add a tea spoon of flour or cornflour with water and stir into the slow cooker. Add back in your pork and leave to continue cooking for 30 minutes.

6 - Finally! After 9 hours you’re gonna have some damn tender meat! Get yourself some buns & assemble your buns however you want! I went for homemade slaw & pickled pink onions and it absolutely slapped!
